The Northern Gannet (Morus bassanus)is actually named after Bass Rock. This little outcrop off the coast of Scotland is home to 20,000 gannets in the breeding season. The spectacle of all these birds feeding in the dawn light is truly special and has, to this date, been the most impressive wildlife spectacle I’ve ever see.
